You know you've won, in life, when people pay you to do what you would pay them to let you do

The Answer

It's like I asked the question yesterday and God heard me. There is lots more. I'm just looking at the tip of iceburg.

When we were working at our previous job on the ranch and my cowboy got in his big wreck (you can check out the post called that if you don't know what I'm talking about) I needed help to do chores at home while I was at the hospital with him. I asked a fellow who was around everyday cause of his oil patch job and he and his wife were very kind to us. Larry is the son of a cowboy. Oddly enough, one that, years ago, used to ride this same range that we are on now. As a kid Larry rode here too and maybe if it wasn't for his encouragement we wouldn't be here. He said it was a good job and it is.

Larry told us then that his dad, although very old and not in good health, still wore his cowboy hat (in the house), said it kept his head warm. That old cowboy is riding Heaven's Range now.

This year I decided to keep a journal of a whole season here on this blog. That's why so many posts. It's not that I don't have enough other things to do. Along the way it's been such a bonus to meet you all but I keep recording life here because we won't always be able to cowboy for a living. I hate to even say that out loud. If this was the last year, I'd want to remember it: every puddle, every blade of grass, every cow, every rotten Charolais bull.

There'll come a day when I might forget a lot of things but I'll remember I'm cowgirl. And it's somehow kind of fun to think of my old cowboy wearing his hat in the kitchen, because it keeps his head warm.

I can't imagine you or dad doing anything else, but I know that day will come, I just hope not to soon! I need someone to teach my children (when I have them) how to rope, ride, look for sick animals and to know when the grass is just right. I love you both for teaching me all that and more.

A wonderful life, tough and hard work but wonderful, to live and work the land /stock is second to none .This post brought me to tears a bit .My grandfather "retire " before I was born but I never saw a man work a harder day! And my dad is much the same. I work full time in town ,as does hubby but my joy is still in the time I spend with the stock. Often find myself wishing that I could do more of it and less of my "job".

Friends are one of our greatest treasures.

When I started my blog, one of the reasons was that I wanted my daughter to have something to remember my by; she's a city girl, a lawyer in Ontario (where did I go wrong! LOL!).

God always hears us. Maybe I'll need my blog to look back in time to remember things....I've never thought of the reasons for why I blog....I've just done it.

I don't know about you, but I think he spoils me. The answers so vary:
Yes you can have that;
No that wouldn't be good for you;
Wait, you're not quite ready;
First you decide what you really want

*hugs* ♥

I understand how you feel. When we start homesteading, it's going to be a big change for us; but I have faith that God will see us through. :)
