Today I'm suffering with a dehydration headache, it will eventually go away when I get enough fluids. It was supposed to be a very short ride yesterday to pull one little last bull but, due to the kerfufle, it was way too long without water. The bad thing is the poor cowboy is out hunting the disappearee with out me. Two sets of eyes are always better especially when you have to check two big fields (about 15-20 square miles) and part of that by the river plus look through 700-800 cow/calf pairs because the two herds are mixed together.
I've been saving this post for such a day.
Crystal lives just down the road but there is a Ferry ride between us since we live on opposite sides of the Red Deer River. Who would ever believe there is a ferry on the bald prairie (and it's been there since 1913) but now I have proof.

I guess the name of the boat is the Edmonton even though it is the Finnegan Ferry. Edmonton is also a city, the capital of Alberta.

In the winter they pull the Ferry out of the water since, this being the great white North, the river freezes over and then people just drive across it.

I used to work for Douglass's and sometimes crossed that ferry several times a day.
I never knew of the Ferry either, thanks for the pics I may need to check that out some day

Oh, the Finnigan Ferry...LOVE this post! I can't even tell you the number of times I've crossed over on that! We used to go swimming off the sides too. Lots of our friends have been the "ferry men" over the years...great memories! Thanks!!
